Why do I enjoy teaching Spanish?

The attitude that one needs to know only English creates self-imposed limitations upon us.  This "English Only" attitude can stunt our educational development, restrict our communication and thinking abilities, and deny ourselves the ability to fully appreciate and understand the world in which we live.

Learning another language opens up new opportunities and gives us perspectives that we might otherwise never have encountered.  Personal, professional, social, and economic considerations all point to the advantages of learning foreign languages.

When I am not teaching and learning with students at Aquinas High School, I can usually be found biking the back roads of Vernon, La Crosse, and Trempealeau Counties; boating with my family on the river; or getting lost on jogs in Hixon Forest (where I often find the golf ball that I mishit earlier in the week).
